My trip began on Friday, Jan 31st when I began to stress out about what I needed to pack. Certain airports only allow you to check a bag for 50 pounds, anything over that costs $200! Since I’m trying to be pretty frugal, as usual, this wasn’t an option for me. After I spent time with my family on Friday night, we woke up early to get ready for my flight on Saturday. This also posed a problem when my baggage weighed more than 50 pounds where I immediately became frustrated and took out quite a bit of stuff and ended basically, not packing efficiently at all! Haha, that’s what I get for stressing!
Our first flight left Omaha and the plane was extremely small and uncomfortable; however, the flight was pretty short. We ended up getting to Chicago right on time, there is when most of our group got together. We did short introductions and then we left to eat. The two hour lay overs in Chicago and New Jersey seemed long, but they actually were extremely short both times. The flight from Chicago to New Jersey was a larger plane and was much more comfortable. I ended up talking to an English professor from Delaware who was visiting her sister in England. The flight from New Jersey to Shannon was the one that I was dreading because we would be flying over the ocean, it was also our longest flight at about six hours. I had made a plan as soon as I got on the plane to watch a movie, have the complimentary supper, read a bit, and then hopefully sleep through the rest. However, sleeping did not come easily for me because it is so uncomfortable in a plane. I was lucky enough have an entire row of three seats to myself though!
Overall the flying process went much smoother than I had expected! The things that I was initially stressed about, didn’t quite bother me anymore and I knew that I had the basics and that everything would be fine. I was extremely glad to be back on land though and was ready to get off my rear and see what Ireland had to offer!
The top picture is right after we took off from New Jersey to Ireland. We left at 7 at night, but arrived in Ireland at 7 in the morning within a 6 hour flight!
The picture below is of the ocean about a ten minute walk form our cottages. This is my first time being at the ocean and even though its cold, its beautiful! :)
